A car accident on the Mumbai-Goa Highway in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri claimed five lives on Monday, May 19. The occupants were travelling from Mumbai to Devrukh to attend a funeral ceremony. Around 5 PM, the driver reportedly lost control of the car. According to preliminary reports, the car skidded off and fell 100-150 feet into the Jagbudi river. While five people lost their lives in the mishap, the car's driver suffered serious injuries. The severely damaged car hindered police's efforts to retrieve the bodies. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the fatal accident.
